10 years at the Guide.

This month marks the 10th anniversary of my first Guardian Guide cover. It was a REALLY big deal getting my first cover (top left) and the buzz has never worn off. I've had around 25 covers in the past 10 years and these are some of my favourites. Nothing matches the feeling of being out and about on a Saturday and seeing people reading the Guide with my illustration on the cover. As well as the covers I've drawn illustrations for over 350 Hard Sell columns, had the cover to the Guardian Glastonbury Guide (spotted around the neck of John Peel, Paul McCartney and, er, Badly Drawn Boy) and provided icons for the Guide website. It's been an absolute blast and I've worked with some really great people. Long make it continue. TEN years! Where does the time go?!

Brilliant - congrats Jonathan, they look great all together.

When I graduated I always wanted to do illustrations for the Guide. About a year or so later I was commissioned for some and was really happy...
...and I've never been asked to do any since.
Hmmm.

Thanks, all!

Jon - I don't think it's affected your career too much!

Hey great! I once talked to a graphic designer and asked what it felt like to see your work in the highstreet and he was a bit 'meh' about it so nice to hear you still get a kick from it.

I remember seeing your work in the guide and recognising you as someone else who had done work for Gavin Burrows. At the time sSeeing you had progressed from the small press world and gone pro really spurred me on to think I could do it to.

Not that I have ever actually made a living out of it but I have done a few things that ended up in the high street. Going into Tower Records and seeing a CD cover with my image on it was a real thrill!
