"Public Transport" for NMSD

Here's a quick one pager I did for Delaine Derry Green's excellent Not My Small Diary anthology (issue 16). The theme of this issue is transportation. I have a love/hate relationship with public transport - it's usually "hate" but I do love a good anecdote and it's given me plenty of those. NMSD 16 is in two big chunky volumes and is available here. It's brill' so go buy it.

This is great Jonathan. As a frequent user of public transport, i enjoyed this very much.

'You're a fat lad. Are you a darts player?' Oh boy, did I laugh at that. My faves were the two old dears on a bus in Leicester while I was at uni. A young man got on with a case for carrying a musical instrument, like a euphonium or French horn, a great bulky thing. One old dear said: 'What do you think was in that funny-looking case?' Her friend replied: 'A musical instument of some sort, I should think.' probably one of those new-fangled electric guitars...'

The drunk on the Liverpool train ended up attempting a citizen's arrest on two poor old German tourists. "Please. Just let us go to Cardiff" was all I heard when I got off the train. Apparently, he'd been on the train all day just going back and to!
