Mug Shots
Some recent drawings based on old 1920s mugshots (from the archives of the Sydney Police Dept). I wanted to draw faces without being bogged down with likenesses and all these people had proper faces!

Derek Danger
Here's my version of Robert Ball & Warwick Johnson-Cadwell's Derek Danger (of Dangeritis fame). Produced for Robert and Warwick's Dangeritis exhibition at Travelling Man in Leeds to celebrate the release of the new edition of Dangeritis. I love Dangeritis. Long may it continue.
Still haven't seen a Derek cosplay though. Come on, people! This needs to happen (even it's just Robert or Warwick. Or both).
Below are the original artwork and the first Derek sketch from my sketchbook.

Jazz portraits
I posted the sketches a few weeks back of my Jazz portraits but here's the finished versions (top to bottom - John Coltrane, Charlie Mingus, Thelonious Monk). Brush pen drawings coloured digitally (incorporating a lot of paint scans!). The first three are available to buy now from my shop. I'll be adding more as I do them.

Think of a City
My contribution to Alison Sampson's Think of a City project. Some amazing contributions so far (in particular Simon Gane and Dilraj Mann).

Jazz Portraits
Some recent sketchbook portraits of jazz musicians (colour pencil and watercolour) - John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Thelonius Monk, Nina Simone. I wanted to experiment with different shapes and space and I thought jazz kind of reflected what I wanted to do hence the subjects.

Stylist Magazine
We were recently asked to create a collection of Felt Mistress characters by Stylist magazine to model shoes and bags for their special Fashion issue. Here's my original sketches (all characters were to be furry and brightly coloured. Louise chose all the fabric first and we took it from there) and below are some of the pages from the shoot featuring Louise's finished Felt Mistress creatures. Thanks to Alexandra Fullerton and Tom Gormer for directing the shoot (and having the idea to commission us to work on such an enjoyable project) and thanks to Omer Knaz for the fantastic photography. It was a joy to see someone taking so much pride in their work and paying so much attention to detail.

Plants!
Spent a lot of time over the last few weeks drawing plants. The more complicated the better. Lots of fascinating shapes and negative space to draw.

Berlin Sketches
It was Pictoplasma last week so I had the pleasure of spending a few days in Berlin. Didn't get to spend quite as much drawing as I'd like but I did get a chance to do a lot of chatting and it's good to talk, right? Top sketch is my favourite (drawn from the window of the Manolo coffee shop). First time I've used my Dilli pen out and about. I like it!
