DoodlePlanet August

Here's my piece from August's DoodlePlanet. I used a matchpot of paint, a brush pen and an ivory POSCA. Once again I had no idea what I was going to do before I started. I've thought about planning something out in the past but I don't think that's what DoodlePlanet is about. Something interesting happens when you just start drawing. Not always good but always interesting.

Eurocultured

I had a great weekend drawing at Eurocultured. I was working alongside friends, Hammo and Guy McKinley and met up later with a lot of Twitter friends (who all turned out to be real people!) so it was like a proper day out. I even had some free POSCAS and free noodles. For more shots of the weekend visit the Flickr stream of "Sheila Blige" to see some great progress shots and Hammo and Guy's pieces in all their glory.

DoodlePlanet - First of the decade

Last night's piece from DoodlePlanet - this time with added birdie and a grumpy monkey. Also a detail shot courtesy of Nick Dobie.

Tokyo Jazz Panda Wall

I spent two days this week painting a wall for the lovely people at Tokyo Jazz Panda in Chester. They've just moved to lovely new premises and to celebrate they asked me to paint all over one of the recently decorated walls. Here's the result.

Shakedown Preston

On Saturday I took part in Shakedown at Preston's covered market. A day of extremes - from torrential rain and grey skies to bright blue skies and the possibility of sunburn - all within the space of a few hours. This is my 8ft wall. POSCA and a pot of orange emulsion. Annoyingly, it's too similar compositionally to the piece I did at Doodleplanet last month. Never mind, there's always next time. Apart from that it was a great day painting alongside Moot (who organised the event), David Setter, HiCalorie and loads of other supremely talented artists.

More drawing on walls.

Another enjoyable night at the live drawing event, DoodlePlanet. Thanks again to David, Heidi and Matty for putting on such a great night.

Ich Bin Eine 1980s Mandrill

My 80s Miami Vice style Mandrill I did for "Animals Take Over Berlin" organised by the very talented Megan, Louise and Cat. Have a look at their Berlin Stampede blog for more pics of what they got up to.

MDF 3D

A couple of close-ups of the 3D (well, sorta) piece I've done for Inky Goodness in Birmingham's Vaad Gallery. The show starts on Friday night and I'll be at the gallery all day on Saturday (along with the lovely Felt Mistress) if anyone wants to pop by and say hello. I'll post some more pics once the exhibition is up.

Shaped Painting

First of my shaped painting for September's Inky Goodness show. This is on MDF which was cut to shape and then primed and painted on to. Louise is currently working on some 3D pieces to go with them. More soon.

Paris Painting

A painting for my sister's birthday. She wanted something Parisian with the Eiffel tower in it somewhere. Brief fulfilled! 60cm x 80cm.

More Aztec doodles

Another two sketchbook pages. POSCA and a Sharpie and the TV on. Something strangely reassuring about doing intricate little patterns. I'm going to attempt something along the same lines as a lino print soon.

Creepy Tree-ptych

Here's a "tree-ptych" (see what I did there?) featuring two creepy trees and a tree creature. Once again, acrylics and POSCA.

Blue Tree Canvas

More messing around with POSCAs, acrylics and canvases. I seem to either draw girls with long complicated hair or stylised trees. I should draw a complicated hair girl/tree combo. Oh, wait a minute, I have.

Sunday Painting

After warming up (literally and figuratively!) on Saturday I felt like doing another painting. Here's the result. (60cm x 80cm) POSCAs and acrylics.

Live Painting, Chorlton

A piece I did today at the Future Savings event in Chorlton (alongside Julian Kimmings and Wil Hesketh). To be auctioned in aid of Cancer Research next month. Phew, it was hot!

Abstract Canvas

Canvas filled with the shapes I usually incorporate into clouds, hair, trees, etc. This was painted over an existing painting that I never finished. I think the grey, red and white colour scheme gives it the feel of an eighties quilt cover. Nowt wrong with that.

DoodlePlanet - April

Boy! DoodlePlanet is getting busy. Last night's installment had people sprawled all over the floor drawing. We're going to need a bigger boat!

Here's last night's piece. I sold this within 20 minutes of starting so the pressure was on to finish it to a reasonable standard. Once again, a great night. More pics HERE.
